The Inn has been something of a fixture in Deci for years now. Sat by one of the gates at the edge of Cheapside originally a place where traders had come, this changed during the rise of The Murder when outsiders tended to be the first to suffer at the hands of his followers wishing to show their devotion and by the time such fervour had lessened it was to the Cart and Hammer in Forgetown that traders now go when in Deci.
The Braided Fox is often frequented by Mercenaries with grulls to flash it is an establishment that, outwardly at least, is not very Deci at all. For a start it was not in a state of Deci rot, that malaise most of the buildings sat within whereby they stank of damp and mould, looked about to fall over but never, ever, actually did. The ironwood and panelling are grained deep from old fires. The sturdy shutters are double-barred and closed.
Secondly, it is, unlike Deci as a whole, quite jolly indeed. People are known to laugh and even sometimes dance a jig. The food actually tastes of something other than being boiled or poisoned. The ale is not watered. The wine is imported, mainly from Gothiel. Smuggled, doubtless.
Typically to be found in a corner and at a table all to himself in an otherwise crowded taproom is Catskinner, who quite openly trades information. Its been said that he has been killed for that three times but since he was one of those rare and vitae filled men such he regards merely as an occupational hazard and the Fox is one of the better sources of information in Deci.
The Braided Fox is therefore an excellent place for those looking for well paid, short term employment. Most of the dirty work ends up coming to Deci as this is where the meanest, most morally selective heroes are traditionally found. The work is often dangerous but the rewards can be high. That is, as long as the employer can be tracked down afterwards…
