Whilst Mercenaries with their mono-theistic outlook have some trouble comprehending how the peons of the Empire can follow multiple faiths, even diametrically opposed ones, the fact remains that they do. In cities such as Bildteve and Scarlene where vast numbers of faiths are represented this is even more true.
In Deci the nature of faith is somewhat easier for the Mercenary Caste to understand with the vast majority being the darker or faiths with the odd neutral faith.
The most predominant faiths in the city are those of The Black Mana Dragon, known locally as The Serpent and the Faith of The Forge.
The other faiths that are well represented within Deci at this time are those of:
The Grey Mana Dragon
Slavik
The Tribal Totems
The City Cult of Ulis Tamary
Winter
Mother Hag
King Troy The Faceless
The Draconic faiths, the faith of the Forge, Slavik and the Tribal Totems are familiar to Mercenaries, exponents of such faiths often being found on the Mercenary Trail, their powers being of direct use in mercenary endeavour.
The City Cult is a thing of individuality to each city. It represents the peons belief and faith in their city. Despite his (seeming?) death at the hands of Argoth the faith in Ulis Tamary, ancient City Spirit of Deci, has diminished hardly at all.
The faith of Winter is a mystery to the rulers of Deci but the Vizier once voiced the opinion that it was probably something tied to the deadly and mysterious Silverweavers and best not interfered with.
Mother Hag is a Primal Force that is tied to the city's midwives and venerated by the women of the city. It is to she that those women close to labour pray for protection in childbirth and for safe delivery. Death in the throes of childbirth or soon after is of course not uncommon and it is considered only sensible and wise to pray to the Mother Hag at these times.
King Troy The Faceless is, perhaps an idealised or stylised, icon of the ruler of the city. This faith is tied to the peons belief in their King and his right to do whatever he wishes to them, his subjects, in fact it is expected. Once sharing the stage as it were with King Blackjack and The Mocker King there is now but one King of Deci, triumphant and supreme and that is King Troy the Faceless, so called after having his face ripped off by the Were-King of Bildteve when he sought to prove his supremacy as the undisputed King of Deci.
The faiths of Elbereth, St Michael and Talthar are conspicuous by their complete absence from the thoughts and worship of the peons.
