There is a fallacy that there are five quarters in Deci. There may be many more but one is of finance and trader and the belief in such also. This is The Invisible Quarter and home to the notorious Merchant Sire and Financier, Anath Halfblack. Whilst not being a true quarter in the physical sense the influence and power of this meta-quarter is representative of a full city quarter for Master Halfblack has spent a great deal of time and treasure in making it so, primarily by his sly acquisition of a great deal of property with his wider demesne carefully spread amongst them and served by those who owe him debts.
As a result vast swathes of the city of Deci, mainly centred on the easterly or Mercantile Quarter fall under his sway and bear his mercantile symbol even if seemingly empty and disused, yet in remarkably good condition. Indeed his dominion over the city's Mercantile Quarter has resulted in its synonymously being identified simply as The Invisible Quarter. His businesses are even known to migrate between one empty building and another. Indeed, if a building is destroyed there is every chance that another will serve just as well for the same purpose allowing business to carry on with little more than a hiccup in the event of any problem. Even the location of his own personal offices are said to vary on a daily basis.
The influence of the Invisible Quarter is even rumoured to reach far beyond just Deci and its territories, casting its silky threads in a growing web across the entire Empire. For instance the vast hall that is King Knock Knock is Master Halfblack’s infamous auction house that attracts the interest of the rich and powerful amongst the Empire’s citizens and beyond for the sale and purchase of a large diversity of goods.
King Knock Knock
Whilst a privately owned enterprise, the size of King Knock Knock is so vast that it rivals a Guildhall in its scope and capacity. It is Sire Halfblack’s infamous [[Auction House]] and probably the structure most used, if not realised as such, by the Empire’s Mercenaries when they buy and sell those great artefacts of power that they often “acquire” throughout the adventurous lives.
Uncle Halfblacks
Whilst in the grand scheme of things but a small structure little more than a series of backrooms within the many halled and ever shifting Invisible Quarter Uncle Halfblacks serves as a gem market in Deci and a good place to sell jewellery one might "acquire".
